Support our Highland Park families through these community and communications program... PTA MembershipThe HP PTA Membership provides opportunities to meet with other parents and teachers to discuss education, health and welfare of our children. Being part of the PTA connects families with the school, resulting in a wider support group and making school involvement easier. Ultimately, PTA provides the opportunity to serve, volunteer and contribute to the welfare of all children at Highland Park. Through the PTA you will be introduced to a variety of activities to share your special talents. With membership also comes special discounts: La Quinta discount rate, 3% off auto insurance from Nationwide, 5-10% off Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Discounts off of Aflac accident insurance, 5% off Southwest Vacations, 15% off of Schliterbahn, Fiesta Texas and Seaworld, 5% off online purchases at BarnesandNoble.com, 14% discount at T-Mobile and, monthly specials and 7% off at Dell. Welcome CommitteeHighland Park Welcome Committee informs incoming parents about the educational programs, as well as the PTA programs, that take place at Highland Park Elementary. We have events running from December through May, beginning with Prospective Parent Orientation, running from December to February, Pup Camp in March, and Kindergarten Round-Up concluding our events in May. We love any volunteers that can give an hour or two of their time at specific welcoming events. All our events are held at Highland Park. It is an easy and fun way to meet new people and help those who are new to our Highland Park family feel welcome! Contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Homeroom ParentsThe Homeroom Parent's role is an important one and involves 5 main areas: communications, committee recruitment, teacher gifts, class parties & t-shirts and to be a liaison between the teacher and the class parents. The HR parent will be relied upon to: build a class roster and communicate pertinent info to the classroom parents via e-mail on a somewhat regular basis, will collect and coordinate teacher gifts, will collect and coordinate class t-shirts for school events, will aid in recruiting parents for various school/PTA functions throughout the year and needs to be someone who can be a voice for the teacher should the teacher need anything for the classroom. Being a HR parent is luckily one that is much easier due to a high parental involvement and is extremely rewarding and is tons of fun! Homeroom Parent Coordinator helps to make sure every teacher has a homeroom parent. Once assigned, the coordinator organizes a Homeroom Parent Orientation to explain the duties and helps Homeroom parents fulfill obligations throughout the year as described by Homeroom Parent Duty guidelines. In addition, the Homeroom Parent Coordinator organizes the recognition of non-teaching personnel by collecting money from each HR class and distributing it to the non-teaching personnel at Winter Break. Scotties CareThe Highland Park Scotties Care Committee provides confidential assistance to Highland Park families and staff in times of need, emergency and celebration. Committee members may provide meals, cards, phone calls and visits. We will strive to match volunteers who have gone through similar family illnesses and injuries to share their experiences with others. Whether the need results from an illness of a child or family member or the birth or death of a relative, the Scotties Care Committee is here to help! These programs depend on volunteers to make them a success. Contact the PTA Executive Committee if you are interested in being a Committee Chair, or contact the Committee Chairs if you would like to serve on a committee. |
