Before school begins, the teachers are provided with volunteer opportunity sign up sheets. Parents are encouraged to participate in classroom and school wide events. Reflections

PTA Reflections is an annual themed art competition. Designed to enhance rather than replace a quality arts education, the PTA Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves and to receive positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Each year, the PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme, and students submit entries to our local PTA.

Science Fair

Highland Park holds a school-wide science fair each year. Entry to the fair is optional for grades K-3 and mandatory for grades 4 and 5. Entries can be collections (K-3 only), exhibits or experiments and are judged based on creativity and adherence to specific judging criteria. Special awards are given in certain categories, and the best entries from each grade advance to the City-wide science fair in the spring.

International Day & Week

Highland Park's International Week is one unique way our school opens up the big wide world to our children... It occurs early in the school year and includes grade-level bulletin boards, a cultural assembly and tour of booths, and a potluck family dinner. You can help by sharing your own heritage or interest in another country, by helping with the bulletin boards, volunteering at a country booth or bringing a dish to share with our international community! Book Fair

The Highland Park Book Fair takes place every February and raises funds to support our library. Thanks to the Book Fair, our librarian is able to buy new books for students and teachers, as well as bring in well-known children's authors for readings and special events. The Book Fair is open to the public for several days, and includes a used book drive, Dad's Breakfast, and Family Night. The highlight of Family Night is the annual Poetry Slam, where 4th and 5th graders are invited to read their own work. Contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Scottie Olympics

Each Spring we celebrate all things Olympic, especially our very own Scotties at the Scottie Olympics! The students learn and practice all of the events in preparation for games in their PE class. It takes a team to host these games, and we need parent volunteers to help officiate the 4th and 5th grade events and help out at the refreshment center throughout the day. Please be ready to help out and join the fun! Contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to volunteer or for more info!!

These Scottie traditions depend on volunteers to make them a success. Contact the PTA Executive Committee if you are interested in being a Committee Chair, or contact the Committee Chairs if you would like to serve on a committee.
