Highland Park Helps Pickle |
|
The hundreds of brand new and gently loved books generously donated by students and teachers of Highland Park Elementary at this year’s book fair were delivered across town to many very happy and appreciative students and teachers at Pickle Elementary School. In addition, the librarian was pleased to catalogue many of the new titles for their library.
The vast majority of students who attend Pickle receive free or reduced lunch and are first generation Americans. Most are ESL and so their reading levels are below our kids. As a result of the language (and economic barrier) their book collections at home are small. They were really excited about the books they were given last week.
Thanks Highland Park!
Check out photos: one of librarian Kate Clark, and the second of kids picking books. |

It’s not too late to order yearbooks for your students. Don’t miss out on this chance to a year’s worth of memories in photos for your Scottie. Yearbooks are $25 and come with a set of autograph pages, which can be attached to the yearbook when it’s delivered. Yearbooks will be delivered this summer, but autograph pages will be available for your children prior to the end of the year, and they’ll get to spend some time signing each other’s pages. Act now to ensure your child gets both the yearbook and autograph pages. Orders can be placed through the parent portal at hppta.org. Questions: contact Jay Plotkin at

Note: Extra autograph pages are available for families who only want to order one yearbook but have more than one child. If you order more than one yearbook, you do not need to order autograph pages since they are included with each yearbook order. |
