Teacher & Staff Support

Teacher & Staff Support

These programs recognize and aid our great Highland Park faculty & staff.

Parents Aiding in Learning

The PAL (Parents Aiding in Learning) Program is the PTA volunteer program that supports teachers and staff in preparation of instructional materials. Most activities involve copying, coloring, stapling, laminating, cutting and/or any other time-consuming tasks teachers may need to have done. This is a flexible volunteer commitment - you can stop by anytime and see if a project are ready.

Staff Appreciation Committee

Every year, the Staff Appreciation Committee sponsors events to honor all school employees for their valuable contributions to the school. In addition to breakfasts around the winter holidays and at the end of school year, we host staff luncheons in October and February. Parents contribute food, money, and time to make the events successful. If you are interested in helping with the fall or spring luncheons, please sign up here.

Staff Birthday Program

Each month, Highland Park staff members enjoy a birthday party honoring those celebrating their birthday that month. Parents bring treats to snack on, Starbucks provides coffee twice a year, and Shoal Creek Nursery graciously provides a potted herb as a birthday gift to each honoree. If you are interested in helping provide goodies, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. P.E. Program

Want to see your child in action? Be a P.E. volunteer!! You don't have to be athletic, and you don't have to commit huge chunks of time... but, you do have to want to have fun while making a difference in your child's school! As a P.E. volunteer, you'll meet Coach DeLine and Mrs. Visser in the gym prior to your child's class, where he'll have you lead the warm-up, referee a game, or do some one-on-one coaching. Ideally all class parents will sign up at least once to join in the fun! Questions?? Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Art Program

Help out the Art program! Volunteer in the classroom to help with tasks like hanging art to dry, helping kids get their names on papers, passing out and cleaning up supplies. Assist in hanging artwork around the school. Help with Original Works fundraiser. Emails are sent out weekly to monthly with volunteer opportunities. Simply reply to the emails if there is a date/time which you would like to volunteer. Please direct any questions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. ARD and 504 Substitute Volunteers

We need parents for volunteer substitutes to monitor classes for an hour or two while teachers participate in ARD and 504 meetings. These meetings are usually scheduled on Thursdays throughout the school year. Using volunteers as substitutes for ARD/504 meetings saves our school thousands of dollars in hired substitute fees, so if you are able to give an occasional hour or two of your time this school year, please sign up!
